This is a tough one. How do you describe yourself to someone else. How do you do yourself justice without sounding conceited?
They say (whoever they are?) that you can tell a lot about a person if you look at their book collection. Well, I have a lot of books on teaching Primary School - probably because I have just qualified as a Primary School teacher! Doh. I have quite a few cookery books - I am a vegetarian and I love to cook. Especially for friends as I love to socialise. I have most of Terry Pratchett`s books - probably because I am amazing and really intelligent. But, maybe it is because I find them really funny and I like to think of myself as having a sense of humour. I have some books on Geagraphy and Psychology as that was what I did in my degree. Most of the rest is made up of sci-fi books as I like sci-fi. And almost finally classics. By classics I mean Charles Dickens, Jane Austen etc. as I like to think that I am cultured and in receipt of some intelligence. But mostly I have them on my shelf because I think that it makes me look good and I felt guilty because my shelves had no `serious` literature on them. They are very good btw.
My favourite book is The Power of One as it is one of the best written books I have ever read and it is set in South Africa, where I spent much of my youth, when I wasn`t in Wales anyway. Finally I have a wide selection of Christian books and quite a few different bibles and bible study aids as I am a Christian and Jesus means a lot to me. |
